One-way flights from Delhi/Mumbai to Rome cost INR 18,000-40,000. Via Gulf carriers (Emirates, Qatar, Etihad) is cheapest at INR 15,000-25,000. ITA Airways (formerly Alitalia) flies direct from Delhi. Flight time is 8-9 hours direct.

3-4 days covers the Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Trastevere, and a food tour. Add 1 day for a day trip to Pompeii/Naples (1 hour by fast train) or Florence (1.5 hours). Rome rewards slow exploration — 5 days is ideal.

Trastevere for atmosphere and nightlife (EUR 80-150/night). Centro Storico (near Pantheon) for walking access (EUR 100-200). Monti for boutiques and local feel (EUR 70-130). Near Termini for budget and transport hub (EUR 50-100 but grittier).

Easier than most Italian cities. Pasta dishes like cacio e pepe, aglio e olio, and margherita pizza are naturally vegetarian. Roman-style fried artichokes (carciofi alla giudia) are a must-try. Most restaurants understand "senza carne" (without meat).
